With RIKEDOM OCH GÅVOR (“Wealth and gifts") Svanevit heads south towards Skåne, the southernmost part of Sweden. In search of new tunes, we eagerly seized upon the musical collections of John Enninger. A century ago he was one of the greatest fiddlers and tune collectors and worked for most of his life in the small town of Höör. The joys of his music almost overtook us as we started to delve into the vast amount of musical notation he had left behind. Right from the start we knew we could not possibly fit all the fantastic tunes on to one single album, but for some tunes there was never a doubt - they simply felt indispensable! It’s been an exciting journey - to take part in another person’s passions, read diary notes, imagining this great musician playing his fiddle, surrounded by the music he saved for posterity. Then finally to make that music our own, to bring it to life once more, was truly wonderful. The wealth and gifts of Enninger have certainly been added to our musical treasure - now we’re pleased to pass them on to you! Enjoy!

Erik Ask-Upmark Lund, Sweden

Erik Ask-Upmark is one of very few harpists focusing on Scandinavian music on the Celtic harp. He is a Swedish "Riksspelman" (Musician of the Realm) who also plays the Baroque harp and many other early instruments with his groups Svanevit, Dråm and Falsobordone as well as occasionally with larger ensembles such as Concerto Copenhagen and Ensemble Mare Balticum, and tours all over the world. ... more
